
Erasures — an Exhibition of works by Laura Didyk

From July 15–August 26, 2023 the Center for Peace through Culture presented Erasures,an exhibit of original works on paper by artist Laura Didyk. Also referred to as “blackout” or “redacted” poetry, this work represented a conversation between the artist and pages from books and magazines—through mark-making as well as subtracting and highlighting existing text, visual narratives and new meanings emerge. The exhibition featured over 20 pages of original works.
About the Artist
Laura Didyk is a writer, artist, editor, and teacher based in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. Her writing has been published widely in literary magazines throughout the country. She has been a writing fellow at Yaddo, Virginia Center for Creative Arts, and MacDowell, where she received the Rona Jaffe Foundation award. Her illustrations and erasures have appeared in Orion magazine, Washington Post Magazine, No Tokens, and others; in the books Collage Your Life (Storey Publishing), Your Idea Starts Here (Storey Publishing), and Lost Objects (Hat & Beard Press); and in exhibitions at the Berkshire Museum and elsewhere in the Northeast.
