About Bobby

Born and raised in Washington DC, Bobby studied photography at The New School in NYC with Lisette Model and has been making photographs for 45 years. As a hair and makeup artist he worked with photographers Robert Mapplethorpe, Lynn Goldsmith, Loren Haynes, Greg Gorman and Christopher Makos among others.

Bobby is also a published poet & writer and is included in The Outlaw Bible of American Poets (Basic Books), and Verses That Hurt/ Pain & Pleasure from the Poemfone Poets (St. Martin’s Griffin), and Aloud: Voices from the Nuyorican Poets Café (Holt Paperbacks). He has read his work at The Whitney Museum in NYC, The Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC, The Guggenheim Museum in NYC, and The ICA in London among others.

Bobby is the author of 25 books of photography and four books of poetry. His work has been shown at the AMP Gallery in Provincetown, Woody Shimko Gallery in Palm Springs, The Howl Gallery in NYC, ARTsee Gallery in Hudson NY, and The Center for Peace through Culture in Housatonic MA.

Bobby is the host of CPC’s monthly Poetry Nights, and continues to capture portraits of artists for covers of the Berkshires-based Artful Mind magazine.
